Women’s Physiotherapy: Becky Potts
Becky qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2006 and specialised in Women's Health Physiotherapy in 2017, having completed a range of additional specialist training.
Becky's focus is on pelvic health, but she takes a holistic approach to all of her patients, and is passionate about considering the whole body from head to gut to toe (and everything in between!). Her empathetic and approachable manner helps put women at their ease, even when talking about sensitive health issues.
She is extremely experienced in working with women from peri to post-menopause and can help with anything pelvic related, from pain, to prolapse, to leaking and more.
‘I absolutely love helping women with their pelvic health, and I am passionate about empowering women to help themselves, and to understand what is normal, what is not, and what they can do about it. I encourage all women to have pelvic floor MOT’s, to check that all is working well and to also help prevent any issues in the future. It’s an honour to be working alongside such fantastic menopause specialists at Clinic51, to fully support women’.
Becky and her husband Bill own Perfect Motion Physio in Midhurst, West Sussex, where they live with their two young children. They are lovers of the outdoors and will get out onto the South Downs at any available opportunity! Women’s Physio Consultations at Black Barn:
What’s Involved?
Your first appointment will usually take around an hour and includes taking a very detailed and thorough history.
As part of a Women’s Health Assessment you will also be offered an internal vaginal and/or rectal examination. The purpose of this internal examination is to assess the pelvic floor effectively / more comprehensively. Internal assessments are entirely optional and can be done either during this first session (time allowing) or subsequent sessions.
If time allows, the initial session will also include a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment of the low back, abdominal and pelvic regions, or if more time is required for the pelvic floor assessment, then this can be completed at a later date. After the assessment, Becky will work with you to determine how things can best be managed going forwards. She will fully explain the results of her assessments and develop an appropriate treatment plan with you and for you.
Becky is likely to give you some things to work on at home following your first session (such as postural modifications, exercises etc). This is then reviewed and adapted as your treatment progresses. There is never any pressure to complete a course of physio sessions - one session is better than none!
