Contraception Clinic
Contraception will be a feature of most women’s lives at some point….
Most women will have a stage in life where they think about contraception - whether that is as a young woman, after having children, and later into their perimenopausal years. Some methods of contraception are also used to help women suffering from hormone related issues, whether that is heavy or painful periods, or as the progesterone element of HRT treatment.
Thankfully, there are a wealth of contraception options available to women, but that can make the choices difficult and confusing to navigate.
Contraception is available on the NHS - through GP’s, sexual health clinics, and even through some pharmacies, but access to these services has become increasingly stretched. It can be difficult for these services to give the time and space needed to inform, educate, and empower women to make the right choices for them. Coil fitting services are currently experiencing particularly long waits in some areas of the country.
Contraception Services at Clinic51
Our experienced contraception specialist, Harriet Jacobs, is able to offer contraception consultations to women of all ages at Clinic51. Appointments will be used to gather information on your medical, sexual, and contraception history, talk through the options available to you, give guidance on how to use your choice of contraception, and prescribe medication if required.
Harriet has a wealth of experience. She is a midwife, was a lead nurse for Brook Young People’s Contraception services, and runs contraception, coil and implant clinics in the NHS. Her reassuring and caring manner puts patients at ease, even if it their first time discussing contraception.
We also offer coil and contraceptive implant fitting and removals - both of which take place in the calm, serene environment of Black Barn. Appointments allow plenty of time for you to feel prepared and relaxed - and you are welcome to take all the time you need to recover afterwards in our beautiful and peaceful waiting area.
