About Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is focused on targeting psychological or emotional problems that cause distress or mental illness. It may require you to examine difficult or traumatic experiences in your past before you can resolve current challenges and move forward.  The focus of therapy may also be more on resolving issues in the here and now.  It will help you identify the steps you need to take to create the change you want to see in your life.

Sometimes the need for psychotherapy will be obvious; a divorce, an illness or a bereavement that rocks our world. Other times the need is more subtle and harder to define; inexplicable anxiety and depression, a sense of isolation or a creeping dissatisfaction with a career, a relationship or even yourself.

Change, adversity and stress are commonplace in the menopause. Psychotherapy provides you with a safe, confidential place to talk about the issues or difficulties you are facing in midlife and to make sense of your experiences.

Olwen Brunton

Olwen Brunton Psychotherapist at Clinic51

Olwen is an experienced therapist and has an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling. She is an integrative psychotherapist, and uses different techniques, which can be combined to give the best possible outcome for you. Olwen is also a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

‘I am passionate about working with women and I feel strongly that our emotional health is every bit as important as our physical health. Although we are all familiar with the importance of exercise, eating well and good sleep for our physical health, sadly supporting our mental health is too often considered a luxury or overlooked completely. Taking care of your mental health is vital to your wellbeing and you don’t need to be at crisis point before you seek help.’
