Nutrition

Why is Nutrition important?

What we eat and drink provides us with the building blocks for our body to do what it needs to do. With a nutritionally balanced intake – right for you at your stage in life, you can support your energy, mood, and lower the risk of chronic illness.

As our bodies change during the menopause and perimenopause, so do our nutritional needs. As women we are often juggling work, family, friends, hobbies and more, and food & nutrition can be the first part of our daily lives that is affected by lack of time, stress, and our emotions. Skipping meals, snacking on sugar and coffee to “just get through” all begins to affect our sense of self, health and vitality. In turn this can result in problems with hormones, joints, digestion, skin, mood and more.

Working with a dietician can help you to create new habits around how you eat, move, sleep and connect with others. In turn this can help to alleviate some of the symptoms that often accompany the menopause – as well as protecting your health as you go into later life.

We are pleased to partner with City Dieticians to offer our patients nutritional advice.

City Dieticians was founded in 2018 by Sophie Medlin - a well-recognised consultant dietitian in London with expertise in gastrointestinal and colorectal health.

Dietitians train alongside doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to apply the science of nutrition to medicine and to develop individualised dietary treatment plans. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals who are trained and registered to provide dietary advice for medical conditions.

Sophie leads a team who are able to treat patients for a wide range of conditions, from IBS & gastrointestinal issues to weight management as well as advising on how to eat to feel well and stay healthy. You can be seen in person or via video link.
